Apple is set to launch a smart home IP camera in 2026, with annual shipment targets in the tens of millions, according to a recent report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a post on X, Kuo revealed that Goertek has received the ‘NPI’ (New Product Introduction) and will serve as the exclusive assembly supplier for Apple’s smart home camera.
Expected to enter production in 2026, this IP camera is designed to integrate effortlessly with Apple’s other hardware products via wireless connectivity. Currently, global smart home IP camera shipments stand at 30–40 million units per year, and Apple has set its sights on achieving over 10 million annual shipments for this product line. This strategic move underscores Apple’s ambition to expand within the home tech market, with the user experience likely benefiting from Apple’s strong ecosystem and deep integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri.
Although Apple doesn’t currently produce its own security cameras, it does allow users to manage compatible cameras within the Home app and the feature HomeKit Secure Video This feature allows users to add home security cameras to the Home app, allowing them to record footage and access it remotely. The video is fully end-to-end encrypted and doesn’t count towards iCloud storage. HomeKit Secure Video is accessible on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
While the market already offers a range of home security cameras, an official Apple option could be particularly popular, standing out due to Apple’s focus on privacy, seamless integration with its ecosystem, and intuitive design.
