Aqara users will first gain access to Matter in December 2022 via the Hub M2 through an OTA update, which will first allow more than 40 existing Aqara Zigbee devices to become compatible with Matter. Previously, Aqara announced that two new sensors, the Door and Window Sensor P2 and the Motion and Light Sensor P2 with Thread. These new Thread devices were announced at CES 2022 and billed to arrive in the second half of 2022. However, Aqara has said these will now arrive in early 2023. Also in 2023, the company will release the next-generation smart home hub, the Hub M3, with multi-protocol support. This means that the new hub will act as a Thread Border Router and a Matter Controller and Commissioner. Which can directly connect and manage Thread and Matter-compatible smart home devices.
