Belkin has announced it will discontinue support for the majority of its older Wemo smart home products as of January 31, 2026. After this date, the Wemo app, cloud services, and all related technical support and troubleshooting assistance will be shut down.
According to the company, any device features that rely on cloud connectivity—including remote access and voice assistant integrations—will cease to function. However, four Thread-enabled Wemo products will continue to operate:
Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way (WLS0503)
Wemo Stage Smart Scene Controller (WSC010)
Wemo Smart Plug with Thread (WSP100)
Wemo Smart Video Doorbell Camera (WDC010)
These products are compatible with Apple HomeKit, and Belkin notes that any other Wemo devices configured through HomeKit before the 2026 cutoff will also retain basic local functionality.
Wemo, introduced in 2011, was Belkin’s foray into the smart home space, offering products such as smart plugs, light switches, baby monitors, bulbs, and motion sensors. The company acknowledged that the decision to phase out support was not taken lightly but is part of a strategic move to redirect focus to other business areas.
“For over a decade, we’ve aimed to deliver intuitive, reliable smart home accessories,” the company stated on its support page. “But as the landscape changes, we’re reallocating our resources toward other parts of the Belkin business.”
