Eve System who are behind popular HomeKit enabled smart home accessories could be about to launch the Eve Weather. The new device is a weather-monitoring system with HomeKit and Thread support via the HomePod mini.
FCC filings published last Thursday reveals that the new Eve Weather will offer similar features to the Eve Degree. The new device will monitor temperature, humidity, and weather trends. It will also be IPX3 water resistant, which means you can use it outdoors and could survive light rain.
While the rumoured new model offers similar features to the current model. One of the major changes is the inclusion of Thread support. Thread an IP-based smart home connectivity standard uses multiple Thread devices to create a mesh network, expanding the reach of the smart home network. Which will be useful for devices like the Eve Weather which are designed to be placed in the garden as Thread will stretch beyond Wi-Fi or Bluetooth range.
Thread is the biggest developed in HomeKit and Eve Systems has rolled out firmware updates to the Eve Door & Window. The company plans to bring support to the Eve Aqua and Eve Thermo later in the year and future devices will support Thread.
Eve is yet to comment on the Eve Weather, but once I hear something official, I will update this article. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram for the latest in HomeKit News and reviews.
