An FCC filing published today reveals that Ecobee’s upcoming security camera will feature HomeKit support. First Spotted by Zatz Not Funny!, the label sample submitted by ecobee to the FCC features a HomeKit code.
It is expected that the Ecobee camera will support motion detection and notifications and Alexa. But now HomeKit support has been confirmed this will be a device that is worth considering for HomeKit users.
Although this FCC filing reveals HomeKit support, It’s unclear if the ecobee camera will support HomeKit Secure Video. However, if you wanting to get on that action, you have several options from the Netatmo Smart Indoor Security Camera and the Circle 2. Then with the Eve Cam exclusively supporting the feature, it would be a big surprise if other manufacturers like Ecobee don’t follow.
I am yet to receive a reply to my question about release and what flavour of HomeKit will be supported. But when I do, I will update this article, so don’t forget to subscribe for more HomeKit News.
