GE Lighting to Release Cync devices With Matter & HomeKit Support

GE Lighting at CES 2023 has announced plans to release Cync smart home accessories with support for Matter and HomeKit. These products, which include the Cync Full Color Direct Connect Smart Bulb and the Cync Indoor Smart Plug, are expected to be available sometime in 2023.

The Cync Direct Connect Smart Bulb that offers full color and warm to cool white options and will be priced at ¢12.50 and $15 for the Cync Indoor Smart Plug. Because they both will support Matter means they will work with Apple Home.

Cync’s products work over Wi-Fi and BLE Mesh and don’t require a bridge or hub. While GE didn’t confirm what connectivity protocol, the new Matter devices would support. Its entirely possible both will be Matter over Wi-Fi.

In addition to the Cync Full Color Direct Connect Smart Bulb and the Cync Indoor Smart Plug, GE Lighting has announced plans to release a range of other smart home products with support for Matter technology. GE did confirm that the company has no plans to provide Matter support for older devices.
