Hive has released a new smart thermostat, the Hive Thermostat Mini is available today and works with Apple HomeKit.
The Hive Thermostat Mini follows on from the previous full size thermostat, but is smaller, and more compact. That’s not the only thing that’s shrunk, so as the price of the mini. The thermostat will cost just £119, which includes the hub. But if you are already onboard with Hive, then the additional Hive Thermostat mini is just £59.
Besides the more compact size and price, the new Hive Thermostat mini gets a new feature, geolocation reminders. Which will use your smartphone to determine your location and remind you to turn the heating off.
Like the current Hive thermostat, the New Hive Thermostat also works with HomeKit, which means you can use it with the Home App, Siri and automations.
The Hive Thermostat mini is compatible with Most gas, LPG boilers and oil boilers if they have an existing thermostat or programmer Plus Electric boilers with standard room thermostat and or programmer.

It’s great to see a new Hive product and especially at this price point as it certainly helps with the adoption of smart heating controls. I also like the new design and it looks compact and slick compared to the previous version.
While it’s nice to see geolocation control, it would have been better if Hive had included an option to automate this via the Hive app.
