The HomeKit how-to guide is a series focused on smart home accessories, automation tips and tricks, and everything to do with Apple’s smart home app and HomeKit framework. In Episode 5, we will look at how to change wallpapers in the Home App for the main dashboard and rooms within HomeKit.
If you use the Home app regularly to control your HomeKit smart home. Then you may want to add some personalisation for each room. Maybe its a kids bedroom or your cinema room. But, its worth noting that HomeKit wallpapers do not sync across devices. So you will need to set them up in each iOS device within your home.
Change the Apple Home app wallpaper
Firstly lets take a look at how to change the wall paper in the main dashboard of your Home app within HomeKit
- Open the Home app on your iOS device. Make sure you are on the Home Tab
- Click Edit in the top right corner
- Click the small arrow next to the Home name
- Scroll down to Home Wallpaper. Then either choose an existing photo from your camera roll or take photo
- Tap Done.
Change wallpaper for your rooms
If you have different rooms set up in the Home app, you can change the wallpaper in that room. You could use this to easily identify a room, or just to have a little fun within HomeKit.
- Within the Home App, Navigate to the Rooms tab
- Navigate to the room you would like to edit
- Click Edit in the top right corner
- Click the small arrow next to the room name
- Then either choose an existing photo from your camera roll or take photo
- Then click done
