The HomeKit how-to guide is a series focused on smart home accessories, automation tips and tricks, and everything to do with Apple’s smart home app and HomeKit framework. In Episode 6, I will show you how to show HomeKit accessories as separate tiles.
iOS 13 brought changes to the Home app and how it displayed HomeKit devices that had more than one purpose. So for instance, the Philips Hue motion sensor also as a Lux and temperature sensors. In iOS 12 it would show these as 3 separate tiles. However, now in iOS 13 by default they are all in one time. Thankfully, there is an easy way to separate those devices like they were in iOS 12.
How to split HomeKit accessories in the Home app
Launch the Home app on your iOS device
Tap on Rooms on the bottom menu bar
Navigate to the room that the accessory is in
3D Touch an Accessory you’d like to separate
Press on the Settings Icon or scroll down to settings
Tap on “Show as Separate Tiles”
So that’s it, your HomeKit accessories will now show all the relevant purposes. Don’t forget to subscribe for more information on HomeKit support or checkout the HomeKit guides.
