In on what would appear to be surprise during the flurry of Matter news, the smart lock company Level announced they included a Thread radio in its Level Lock.
First reported by The Verge, “all Level Locks are 100% hardware compatible with Matter-over-Thread.” The company said an update will follow to enable the Thread radio and Matter support, but didn’t give a timeline.
That update means the locks from the company will not be limited to Apple Home and Ring. But you will need a Thread border router for them to work with Matter over Thread. So if you have then users with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, can take advantage.
This is great news for smart home users that don’t use Apple HomeKit, but want to install a Level Lock in the home
