The Netatmo doorbell comes in a compact and elegant design that should fit perfectly at the entrance to any home. It has a Full HD 1080p camera with a 140 ̊ wide-angle lens camera that also supports night vision to ensure recordings are clear at night. As with the Netatmo smart outdoor camera, the smart doorbell is fully resistant to all weather and dirt thanks to IP44 HZO technology.

As with its other products, the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell will work with the company’s Security App. But best of all, the smart doorbell does not require a subscription like its competitors. When using the Netatmo Security app, you can check the area around the doorbell in real-time. But when someone presses the doorbell buzzer, you will get a notification that someone is at the door. Accepting the notification, you can talk to the person at the door.

The Doorbell’s call history and videos are saved locally on an internal 32GB microSD card and can be accessed via the Security app. In addtion to this, it supports Dropbox and has NAS support. Connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz).

Netatmo says that customers can install the doorbell themselves. You need to have an existing wired chime to replace the doorbell button with the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell. It is compatible with most electrical installations, from 8 to 24 volts up to 230 volts. Customers can check whether their installation is compatible with the Netatmo Doorbell via an online tool.

The Netatmo Smart Video doorbell will work with HomeKit at launch, but the company has said that HomeKit Secure Video support will come later this year. Although it will still work with HomePod chimes via iOS 14, but you will need to wait for HKSV for facial recognition features.

  1. Lol IP44, personally I wouldn’t say that was a rating for outdoor use. But with low voltage technically it’s safe. IP44 is splash resistant, I’ve had so many Xmas lights and solar lights fail, all IP44, in the case on Xmas lights a couple of weeks of damp Xmas weather and you can see the corrosion. Luckily a doorbell might be more sheltered, but still don’t see it lasting long, unless it’s a dry climate it’s used in.

    • I have had the Netatmo Outdoor camera and had it for 2 years outside in UK winters and it has the same protection and not failed yet. IP44 will protect the device from water from 2 directions and its what you would find on most wall lanterns.

You are comparing vastly different products

  2. Surely IP44 is about electrical protection and has nothing to do with corrosion resistance. Sorry to piss on your fireworks Neil.

  3. I recently installed my Netatmo Video Doorbell, however after the rainy night we had a couple nights ago in Surrey, the camera now has a mist/fog and it’s been like that for 2 days ;(
