Netatmo is planning to ship a new carbon monoxide detector starting November 16th for £89.99/€100. The new device features an 85dB alarm and also works with Apple HomeKit.
The Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm measures, in real time, the levels of carbon monoxide in your home. If your home has any fuel-burning appliances, then Netatmo Carbon Monoxide Alarm will monitor the carbon monoxide particles emitted by these appliances.
Netatmo claims that the Smart Carbon Monoxide has a 10-year battery, but this cannot be replaced. But don’t panic, this type of device requires replacing every 10 years, so the battery is good for the entire product life. The HomeKit carbon monoxide has an 85dB siren which is activated if the device detects high a concentration of carbon monoxide in the air.
How serious is carbon monoxide poisoning? Well, depending on the level of exposure to carbon monoxide, it can be fatal.
- 100 ppm = Mild exposure. Mild headaches, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, flu-like symptoms.
- 200 ppm = Medium exposure. Throbbing headaches, drowsiness, confusion, rapid heart rate.
- 400 ppm = High exposure. Dizziness, nausea, visual impairment, muscular weakness. Risk of death after 3 hours of exposure.
- 800 ppm = Extreme exposure. Convulsions, loss of consciousness, brain damage, heart and lung failure followed by death. Risk of death after 2 hours of exposure.”
The Netatmo smart carbon monoxide detector works with Apple HomeKit via Bluetooth. Which means not only can you get notifications via the Netatmo app. But you could set up notifications in the Home app, along with creating scenes or automations.
Currently, the Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm is only available via the manufacturer’s online shop. Don’t forget to subscribe for more HomeKit and smart home reviews. If you have a question or a comment, then leave it below. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
