Ecovacs has unveiled its latest robovac, the Deebot X8 Pro Omni, featuring an extendable roller mop that tackles hard-to-reach areas like corners and wall edges. Unlike conventional models with circular mop pads, the X8 Pro Omni uses a self-cleaning roller mop, designed to maintain hygiene as it cleans. The Robovac will also support Matter and that means Apple Home.
First showcased at IFA last year, the X8 Pro Omni boasts a mop that delivers up to 4,000Pa of pressure and rotates at 200 revolutions per minute. It’s equipped with 16 water nozzles that rinse the roller, directing dirty water to the waste tank to prevent streaking or spreading stains.
The vacuum packs a punch with 18,000Pa suction power and features an anti-tangle brush to keep hair from clogging the system. Its “TrueEdge” 3D sensor improves navigation, helping the robovac handle edges and baseboards, while AI technology recognises obstacles like shoes and cables. Voice control is also supported for added convenience.
Matter and HomeKit support
The X8 Pro will support both Matter and HomeKit, but you’ll still need to rely on the vacuum’s dedicated app for full functionality. Matter and HomeKit enable basic controls like starting, stopping, and selecting cleaning modes, but advanced features such as mapping and zone control remain exclusive to the app. Given the current limitations of the Matter specification, these advanced capabilities are unlikely to be integrated anytime soon. So, while Matter offers convenience for everyday tasks, the app remains essential for accessing the full range of features.
Ecovacs also introduced its Deebot T50 series. The premium T50 Max Pro offers 15,000Pa suction, while the T50 Pro Omni features the brand’s slimmest design yet, measuring just 81mm (3.2 inches) for better access under furniture.
The Deebot X8 Pro Omni will retail for $1,399.99, launching in mid-February. Pricing and availability details for the T50 range are expected to be announced soon.
