Xthings has unveiled the Ulticam IQ V2, a next-generation 4K UHD PoE security camera designed to fully support the newly announced Matter 1.5 camera standard. With powerful on-device edge AI, Google Gemini cloud intelligence and wide compatibility with smart-home platforms—including Apple Home and upcoming HomeKit Matter camera support—the IQ V2 is positioned as one of the most advanced interoperable cameras to date.
The Ulticam IQ V2 blends local and cloud-based intelligence. Edge AI handles real-time detection of people, vehicles, pets, packages, fire, smoke and crying sounds, while Gemini enables natural-language history search, cross-camera search, automatic incident playback and daily activity summaries. This hybrid approach significantly cuts false alerts and provides deeper context than traditional HomeKit Secure Video setups.
Raj Sundar, Senior Director of Product Management at Xthings, said the release marks a major shift for open smart-home security: “With the release of Matter 1.5, cameras can now speak the universal smart home language, and we’re proud to bring that breakthrough to life through Ulticam IQ V2
Built for both home users and professional installers, the camera captures crisp 4K HDR video with a 160° field of view, features infrared night vision, two-way audio, a spotlight and a built-in siren. It supports PoE, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, BLE 5.0 and optional LTE fallback, making it a flexible choice for Matter and Apple Home environments. Storage is equally versatile, offering up to 512GB local SD storage plus free rolling seven-day encrypted cloud storage with no subscription required.
As Matter 1.5 rolls out across ecosystems—including Apple Home and future HomeKit updates—the Ulticam IQ V2 arrives ready for cross-platform compatibility from day one. It goes on sale at the end of December 2025 for $199 via the Xthings website and Amazon.
