IKEA Kajplats colour smart bulb review

This is the IKEA Kajplats LED bulb, and the first thing that surprised me is how solid it feels in hand.

For £9, I expected “cheap smart bulb energy”.

But it actually feels premium. The opal white globe design looks clean, it fits standard E27 fittings, and the build quality is noticeably better than you’d expect at this price. It doesn’t feel flimsy. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to crack the first time you tighten it in a lamp.

Brightness wise, it’s rated at 1055 lumens, which is properly usable light. That’s around the sort of brightness you’d expect from a traditional 75 watt incandescent. So this isn’t just a dim mood bulb you hide in a corner. It can genuinely light a room.
