Meross Releases Thread Presence sensor

Meross has unveiled its first Matter-over-Thread presence sensor, the Smart Presence Sensor MS605. Built on real user feedback from the MS600, it directly tackles common pain points such as false triggers, limited placement options, and unreliable connectivity. The MS605 delivers stronger real-world performance with rock-solid Thread connectivity, more precise detection, deeper customisation, and improved durability—all while upholding Meross’s commitment to privacy and reliable, local control under the Matter over Thread standard.

As the successor to the Wi-Fi-based MS600, the MS605 moves away from 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and its constant-power requirements. Instead, it uses a Nordic Thread chipset and a long-lasting CR123A battery for flexible, wire-free installation. It combines mmWave radar, infrared motion detection, and a real-time light sensor to deliver highly accurate presence detection with fewer false triggers.

A 90º foldable, 360º rotatable stand and IP67 rating make it suitable for bathrooms, attics, basements, and other challenging environments. It detects motion up to 6m and presence up to 4m, operating from –20°C to 60°C.

Through Matter over Thread, it connects directly to Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, and Home Assistant with local, low-latency control and no hub or Wi-Fi needed.

The Meross app allows the detection area to be split into three zones, each exposed as a separate sensor for more advanced automation—ideal for layered lighting setups in studies, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

The MS605 is available to preorder now from the Meross webstore, with shipping expected in late December.
