The Eve Cam is now available for preorder and will start shipping on the 23rd June. After being announced at CES 2020, Eve Cam will support HomeKit Secure Video at launch and feature a 1080p lens that supports night vision.
As with all of Eve System’s products, the camera supports HomeKit exclusively. But the biggest bonus, they have designed the smart camera to work with HomeKit Secure Video. This feature analyses footage for people, cars and animals. It then encrypts all your footage end-to-end to ensure maximum security before being stored in iCloud. You can then access any saved recordings within the Home App.
The camera captures video at 1080p at 24FPS and has a 150-degree field of view. You also get night vision which can make out objects of up to 5 feet away. The Eve Cam also includes a built-in microphone and speaker for clear two-way audio.
As the camera has a motion sensor built right in, you can also use the camera to trigger automations via HomeKit. I do this with the Circle 2 to trigger a floodlight attached to my garage.
Interestingly, the Eve Cam is not waterproof unlike the newly released Logitech Circle View. So you will only be able to use it indoors with the 360° x 180° adjustable magnetic base.
The Eve Cam is available for preorder today in the EU for €149 and the and UK USD $149.95 and will start shipping on June 23rd. It will be available at apple.com and Amazon starting in July.
I will of course put the Eve Cam through its paces and will publish a full review shortly. So don’t forget to subscribe for when I publish. If you have a question or a comment, then leave it below. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
